AI Use Policy

Invisible Ink's Guiding Principles for Generative AI Use

With the rise of generative AI tools, the opportunities are vast but come with risks. Invisible Ink and its contractors are committed to using AI responsibly to best serve our clients. This policy reflects our current stance on AI, which may evolve with advancements in the technology.

Our Perspective on AI

  • Insight Comes from Experts, Not Algorithms.
We believe AI cannot replicate the depth, perspective, or empathy provided by human experts. Editorial direction will be driven by skilled professionals, not AI.

  • The Artist, Not the Tool, Creates the Masterpiece.
AI tools can support our writers, designers, and strategists, enhancing the quality of their work. However, the creative choices, edits, and final output are ultimately crafted by humans.

  • Responsibility for Content Quality Rests with Us.
AI tools can make errors in both form and accuracy. Humans hold the responsibility to ensure all AI-assisted content meets our quality standards.

  • AI Mirrors the Internet’s Opinions—and Its Flaws.
AI models are trained on internet data and thus carry its biases and inaccuracies. We approach AI output critically and do not assume it holds "correct" opinions.

  • People Crave Genuine Connections.
Authenticity, humor, and empathy resonate with people in ways AI cannot replicate. We recognize the limitations of AI-generated content and strive to deliver human-centered communication.

How We Use—and Don’t Use—AI

  • Permitted AI Uses:

    • Generating ideas and outlines

    • Creating small and large text segments, including full articles

    • Editing, rewriting, re-framing, and modifying text

    • Offering alternative perspectives on a topic

  • Prohibited AI Uses:

    • Sharing proprietary or confidential information with AI tools

    • Using AI to determine the "correct" stance on any topic

    • Publishing AI-generated text without human revision

    • Bypassing human fact-checking or accountability for AI-generated content

    • Replacing subject matter experts, editors, or creatives with AI

    • Generating content based on uncompensated artists’ or creatives’ work

Legal Considerations

The U.S. Copyright Office does not currently recognize AI-generated work as copyrightable. Therefore, we will not use AI-generated images, graphics, or writing—without significant human editing—for content that requires exclusive client ownership, such as logos, iconic imagery, or thought-leadership materials.

This policy ensures that AI enhances our work while maintaining the integrity, quality, and human touch that define Invisible Ink.
